Utah State Awarded Three Wins Following Idaho State Forfeiture
3/16/2026by Vincent Rohrer

The Utah State University Baseball Club will receive three conference wins after Idaho State University forfeited its weekend conference series against the Aggies, originally scheduled for March 7–8. ISU is forfeiting the remainder of its season due to a lack of rostered players, according to ISU Baseball Club President Stetson Higley.

Each forfeit will be applied to the originally scheduled game dates. Each game will be recorded according to the number of innings scheduled to be played (i.e., a nine-inning game will be recorded as a 9–0 loss for the forfeiting team). This ruling gives USU a three-game sweep for the weekend and improves its record to 6-0 in conference play and 12–0 overall. More information on forfeitures is detailed in Section 24.00.0 of the NCBA rulebook.

Idaho State’s forfeiture will place the program on probation for the second consecutive season. Details regarding the effects of league probation can be found in Section 26.00.0 of the NCBA rulebook. The impact ISU will have on the NoPac East moving forward is unknown at this time. According to Conference Director Justyn Martinko, “Idaho State’s conference alignment for next year won’t be fully evaluated until the summer, when we (the NCBA) go through our conference and division realignment process.” Discussions with league and team representatives will determine whether ISU will reestablish its team next fall, face league expulsion, or pursue another course of action.
